About

The annual Colorado Classic has returned! We will be eagerly watching and cheering for basketball and volleyball games all day Wednesday, 8am to 4 pm, as well as on Friday afternoon, when we conclude the tournament with the championship games!

Scoring

All games will be officiated according to the National High School Federation rules with the following exceptions:

Basketball: For basketball, there will be a play-in bracket. Each team will face an opponent by random to play ONE game with two 7min halves. This game will determine your seeding for a double elimination tournament depending on the outcome of the game. Each team will be given 2 points for every point they win by (this is only applicable for the play-in game). For example if the score is 45 to 40 and your team won by 5, your team now has 10 points for the seeding of the double-elimination bracket. If for any reason two teams are tied for the seeding of the double-elimination bracket, the higher seed will go to the team whose game was played first. For the double elimination bracket there will be four 6 minute quarters, a running clock will be used. The clock will stop for time outs, injuries, and free throws. We will run a stop clock the last two minutes of each half. Two full and two half time-outs per team.

Foul language will not only get you a Technical Foul, it will also disqualify you from the next game of the tournament and may result in dismissal from participating. No jewelry, markings, or inappropriate logos/worldly messages will be allowed anywhere on the court or in the stands(logos).

Volleyball: All games will be played with rally scoring and the best two out of three with the third game going to 15. All players are required to wear culottes/sport skirts of some kind, going to the knee at a minimum. No shorts or pants are to be worn while on church

property or at game locations, to include coming in or going out. If your volleyball jerseys do not have sleeves then tee shirts must be worn underneath them. Each team will need to supply one line judge to help during their games.

For volleyball, there will be a play-in bracket. Each team will face an opponent by random to play ONE game up to 25. This game will determine their seating for the double-elimination tournament, depending on the outcome of the game. Each team will be given 2 points for every point they win by (this is only applicable for the play-in game). For example if the score is 20 to 15 and you won by 5 points, your team now has 10 points for the seeding of the double-elimination bracket. If for any reason two teams are tied for the seeding of the double-elimination bracket, the higher seed will go to the team whose game was won first, or played first.

3 Point Shootout

Each team will present their best shooter. Two players will shoot at the same time on the opposite sides of the court with one minute on the clock. Players have an opportunity to shoot from anywhere on the court. The top two scorers move on to the championship and will face each other head to head for the Colorado Classic 3pt Champion Award! This will take place Friday, February 3rd, before the championship games.

Serving Competition

Each team will present their best server. One player will serve with one minute on the clock. Each player can serve from wherever as long as they are behind the serving line. There will be designated points for each area of the court. The two with the most points will move on to the championship and face each other head to head for the Colorado Classing Serving Champion Award! This will take place Friday, February 3rd, before the championship games.

Voting Process – All Star Team

For both sports each coach will vote for 3 players for the All Star Team. They will vote them as 1st, 2nd, and 3rd (not from their own team), 1st being the best and 3rd being the last vote. They must include the players full name and the team they play for. All coaches will text their votes to Bro. Herman at (916)751-6515 and the deadline for the votes will be Wednesday, February 2nd, no later than 10pm. Any votes that come in after that time will not be counted.

Registration

Registration fee for an individual team is $100.00. Registration fees for both basketball and volleyball teams are $200.00 per school. This will include cost of admission for 2 coaches, all players, and 1 score keeper for all the games in the whole tournament. This fee will help pay for trophies and referees. All fees must be paid before tournament play begins or at CTX registration on Wednesday. The first games will begin on Wednesday, February 1st. The Championship games will be played on Friday in front of all of the CTX delegates.
